Senior DevOps Engineer (Kubernetes, Kafka, Postgres)
Settlr Global helps founders and companies set up and run their business in Thailand, from incorporation and hiring to payroll, visas, accounting, and tax. We move money and handle sensitive personal data, so the infrastructure has to be reliable, secure, and boring in the best way.
We're looking for someone with 5+ years of hands-on DevOps or platform experience who can own our infrastructure end to end: clusters, data, pipelines, monitoring, and security. You'll be the person the team trusts when something breaks at 2am, and the person who makes sure it doesn't happen twice.
What you'll work on
- Running and improving our Kubernetes clusters: deployments, scaling, networking, and cost
- Operating Kafka in production: topics, consumers, retention, monitoring, and recovery
- Managing Postgres: backups, replication, performance tuning, migrations, and disaster recovery
- Messaging and notifications with SNS, SQS, or similar services
- CI/CD pipelines in GitLab, GitOps with Argo CD, and infrastructure as code
- Security across the stack: secrets management, IAM, network policies, TLS, vulnerability scanning, and audit readiness
- Observability: metrics, logs, tracing, and alerts that actually mean something
What we need from you
- Strong Kubernetes experience in production. You've debugged real outages, not just followed tutorials.
- Hands-on Kafka operations. You know what happens when a consumer group falls behind and how to fix it.
- Solid Postgres administration, including backups you've actually tested by restoring them.
- Experience with cloud messaging like SNS and SQS, and with at least one major cloud (AWS, DigitalOcean, GCP, or similar).
- Infrastructure as code with Terraform, Helm, or similar.
- A security-first mindset. You think about least privilege, secrets, and blast radius by default.
- Comfortable writing scripts and small tools in Bash, Python, or Go.
- Clear written communication. Runbooks and incident notes are part of the job.
On AI coding tools
We use Cursor, Claude Code, and similar tools every day, and that includes infrastructure work. We want people who are genuinely good with them: you use an agent to draft manifests, Terraform, and scripts faster, you review everything it produces before it gets near production, and you spend the time you save on design and reliability. You're the engineer, and the agent works for you. If you're worried these tools will replace you, this probably isn't the right fit. If you've figured out how to get a lot more done with them, we'd love to hear from you.
Nice to have
- Fintech, payments, or payroll experience
- Compliance work such as SOC 2, ISO 27001, or PCI DSS
- Cloudflare, Argo CD, or Vault
- Spring Boot or Java services in production
Working here
- Fully remote. You'll need to overlap with Bangkok working hours (UTC+7), so Southeast Asia, India, or nearby time zones work best.
- Flexible hours. We care about what you ship, not when you're online.
- Competitive salary, based on your experience.
- Free Claude tokens and the AI coding tools you need, paid for by us, without tight limits.
- Small team, not much process, lots of ownership.
How to apply
Send your CV, a GitHub profile or examples of infrastructure you've built, and a few lines on how you use AI tools in your work to hiring@settlrglobal.com. Your own words, please, not something an AI wrote for you.
