Questions

Before you apply

Who is eligible for the Thailand DTV visa?

Four groups qualify: remote employees of foreign companies, freelancers with foreign clients, participants in approved soft-power activities like Muay Thai or culinary courses, and spouses or children of a DTV holder.

How much money do I need in the bank for a DTV visa?

You need a minimum of THB 500,000 (roughly USD 14,000) in personal savings shown on a bank statement at the time of application. This is a one-time balance check, not an ongoing requirement.

Can I work for a Thai company on a DTV visa?

No. The DTV only permits remote work for employers or clients based outside Thailand, or participation in approved soft-power activities. Working for a Thai-registered employer requires a work permit under a different visa category.

How long can I stay in Thailand on a DTV visa?

Each entry allows a stay of up to 180 days, extendable once for another 180 days at Thai Immigration, for up to 360 days per entry. The visa itself remains valid for 5 years with multiple entries.

Should I choose the DTV or the LTR visa?

Choose the DTV if you want a fast, lower-threshold route for remote work or soft-power activities. Choose the LTR if you meet the higher income or asset thresholds and want a 10-year visa with tax benefits and no 90-day reporting.
